This Heirloom American Flag Throw is a project I've had on my heart for many years. It is an expression of my love for my homeland as we celebrate 250 years of independence and freedom! This is a larger throw and is big enough to cover a queen & full size bed. Each of the 13 stripes are different, representing the motto that appears on the Great Seal of the United States: "E pluribus unum", which tranlates to "out of many, one".

Skill Level: Intermediate
Yarn: Lion Brand's Local Grown Yarn (100% USA Wool, 3.5 oz/100 g, 186 yds/170 m) in the following colors: 5 skeins of Liberty, 11 skeins of Apple Pie, 11 skeins of Vanilla Bean, and 4 skeins of Barn. (Feel free to substitute your favorite worsted weight yarn for this project.)
Hooks: Sizes H (or 8/5.00 mm), and I (or 9/5.50 mm) or sizes needed for gauge.
Notions: Scissors, yarn needle, 1 stitch marker, blocking matts, blocking combs/T-pins, Fabric Glue.
Gauge: Using larger hook (size I or 9/5.50 mm), and post ribbing (fpdc, bpdc), 15 sts = 4", 5 rows = 2"
Finished Dimensions: 53" wide x 73" long, stars approximately 3.5" across.
